Cactus Under The Influence of Fog

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:
In this presentation, Cactus Store's Christian Cummings explores the history and science behind the Copiapoa, a remarkable fog dwelling cacti that has thrived in the most arid habitat on Earth––the Atacama Desert.  Beginning in 1571 these plants received no rain for 400 years, relying solely on a unique coastal fog phenomenon known as "The Camanchaca" to survive.

What lessons might we learn from this most adapted yet most delicate organism? Attempting to unravel the paradox of a plant living halfway between what it is and what it isn't, we step into the impenetrable fog of conjecture to confront the Camanchaca.

*At the conclusion of the presentation, a limited number of mature Copiapoa will be available for adoption.
