Our final issue was a pair of concrete bookends by LA-based artist Dave Muller. Dave had contributed to several projects with THE THING before making this issue, including our very first advertisement in 2010.  For his issue, he used THE THING’s go-to font, Helvetica, on a bookend design that incorporated books (specifically the book you are holding in your hands right now) as the letter ‘I’.  We worked with ceramic studio Atelier Dion to produce these across the bay in Oakland, CA.
